11/12 Reflection

Today was StoryMap training, which is my favorite tool thus far. Some benefits of this tool include being able to bring to life a story through images. StoryMaps offer a visally immersive experience, which I find more engaging than a simple page on a website. However, this also means that text should be more concise and may be less thorough, as images take visual priority over text. There are also some accessibility concerns that may arise, as text can be difficult to read if it is displayed against a transparent background. However, if you add a white background to the text, this helps make the text easier to read and more accessible. When putting together a StoryMap, it is important to consider how readable the colors of the text will be against the backdrop of the image.

Today, I worked on the “Trailblazer” StoryMap for the Laetitia Moon Conard site. You can see the progress thus far on this link: Trailblazer StoryMap

I am hoping to create an immersive story to be featured on the site, as I believe the StoryMap format is more conducive to visual learners, as well as those who do not have the time to scroll the entire site. Essentially, it is the key points of why we are celebrating Laetitia. She was a trailblazer, and this StoryMap will reflect that.
